About the Project

Good vs evil. This is the core story we have heard a thousand times. It's in the Bible and all our holy books. It's the essence of all Marvel superhero movies. Evil may trample, murder, and destroy, but good will rise up and prevail. We do not like to leave the movie theater pissed that the bad guy won.

Yet, all around us, evil acts are carried out. Evil committed by individuals to the evil actions of powerful corporations and states. We live in an era with the knowledge that evil is nascent, that it may arise if we are not vigilant. And yet, we also invite evil, flirt with it, and are still shocked when we witness it in real life.

But what is evil? How does it arise? Who commits evil, and why? How do we prevent it?

This project is an inquiry into the origins of evil. The ultimate goal is to map out the geographical, historical, psychological, and philosophical terrain of evil. In this effort, we may not be able to map the entire continent, but we hope to complete a general survey.

As this project gathers steam, we will be releasing new articles every month, each focused on a different question around the nature of evil. Stay tuned.
